We value our wider community. We encourage the community to be part of the ethos and life of our school.
Community Bookbug sessions are well-established. Toddlers and their parents/ carers are invited into our school library monthly to take part in Bookbug sessions with stories, sings and rhymes. Sessions are led by our trained and experienced Bookbug leader, Angela Crichton. It’s a fun way to develop language and social skills, as well as promoting emotional wellbeing.
This school year, we started running a Community Cafe. Families and friends are invited into the school termly for a soup, sweet and cuppa. These are prepared and served by our pupils with support from staff. This provides a meaningful context for our pupils to develop skills for life and work, while also opening up the school to the wider community.
Christmas is a special time of celebration and we invite our community to join us. Our ‘Carols by Candlelight’ in our parish church last year was enjoyed by our school, family and friends including our local parish. This has become an annual event for the community to gather and share appreciation for the talents of our children and experience the spiritual/emotional uplift it brings.
